A vintage 'Simplex Credulux' enamel factory pendant light.
An iconic British-made vintage enamel factory pendant light dating from circa 1940s. Manufactured by the Birmingham based Simplex Electric Company, the light is made from spun steel with an enamel finish - grey to the exterior and off-white to the interior.
The Simplex Lighting Company was established in the early part of the 20th century and its name was synonymous with industrial commercial lighting. The company is still in operation today, though is now known as the international brand Creda, which manufacturers everything from washing machines to toasters.
The lamp has its original steel gallery though has some signs of corrosion at the rim of the shade, understandable for an item of this age.
