A vintage Portable Potentiometer manufactured by the Cambridge Instrument Company of London.
Cambridge made scientific and medical instruments was founded in 1881 and is still in existence today, though under a new name. The potentiometer, type No. 44228, is thought to date to the 1960s and is in great condition for its age.
The potentiometer, which was used for testing electrical equipment, is in a rectangular Oak portmanteau with dovetail joints. There are spring-loaded latched connecting the lid with the base. There is a leather handle slung between two d-shaped hinges.
These items are fantastic to up cycle into unique lamps, with a vintage industrial or steam punk feel.
